Hopcalite Catalyst (Carbon Monoxide (CO) Removal Catalyst)
Hopcalite catalyst use copper oxide and manganese dioxide as main raw materials. It has a good catalytic oxidation effect on CO in a dry environment (room temperature and atmospheric pressure). Its disadvantage is that it is more sensitive to water vapor. When the humidity exceeds 45%, the catalyst will poison and fail, so it is more suitable for use in a dry environment. It is mainly used for gas masks, mine self-rescuers, rescue capsules and other devices that need to remove carbon monoxide.
We have introduced an improved Hopcalite catalyst. The modified catalyst has a spherical shape. It has good water resistance, low dust rate, high strength and is not easily broken.
Note:
It is generally difficult to control the humidity below 45% in the rescue cabin or refuge room. Therefore, in actual operation, a desiccant should be installed at the intake end of the Hopcalite catalyst so that water vapor is first absorbed and removed.
In actual use, Hopcalite catalysts should not be used continuously for a long time. After reducing the CO concentration to a permissible range, remove the catalyst layer to prevent excessive water vapor from passing through and causing the catalyst to fail.
